ABOUT SASPARILLA CAT

Welcome to Sasparilla Cat - a store full of simply Puuurfect gifts!

Originally located in sunny Timaru, we stocked a wide range of exciting, unusual gifts & cards many of which could be found no where else in New Zealand. .

The retail shop in Timaru was the dream of British born Hera Howells.
After working as a hospital microbiologist for 13 years she decided it was time for a complete change and moved to New Zealand in 2005.

After visiting several areas of the South Island she decided she liked Timaru and within a few weeks of her first visit there found premises, signed a lease and moved to Timaru from the North Island where she had been staying with her mother. With help from other local businesses Sasparilla Cat opened it's doors in June 2005 at 188 Stafford St Timaru.

The website was launched in June 2007.

In 2008 Hera decided it was time for a new challenge so sadly decided to close the Timaru shop but to keep the website.

She has relocated to Auckland where she is now working as a veterinary microbiolgist as well as continuing with the website.

Hera really enjoys tracking down new products both from NZ and abroad, and is always keen to hear from customers about products they would like to see stocked. So if their is a product you love and have difficulty getting hold of ,just contact Hera and she will try and track it down for you.
